Who We Are, What We Do & Our Intentions

Simply Put:

As our slogan says, we engage in "the creation and evolution of alternatives that serve the greater good." We do this in a variety of ways. We partner with other greater good oriented businesses and organizations. We help them evolve the way they do things and create alternative paths forward that will lead to greater opportunity, empowerment, effectiveness and possibility. We lend a hand in creating and assisting nonprofit organizations and greater good oriented projects; sometimes they are our own ideas and other times we help others realize their vision.

In short, we serve the greater good by finding alternatives to what's not working now. Those alternatives are evolved from what currently exists or they are created from scratch.

Who We Are:

A Partner for Your Greater Good Business or Organization

We partner with your greater good business or organization to help you evolve the way you do things and create alternative paths forward that will lead to greater opportunity, empowerment, effectiveness and possibility. Our help could be as simple as upgrading your website to better convey your message or as in depth as helping you solve difficult problems regarding your organization and chart alternative ways forward. We like the word "partner", because it conveys as sense of joint effort towards a common goal: If you are serving the greater good, we want you to succeed as much as you want to succeed.

We work with a variety of clients on various projects of diverse scale, scope and duration. Our standard rate is $80/hour. However, lower rates are sometimes appropriate and we do pro bono work or trades depending on the financial means of client and the nature of the project. We also offer some free services such as web hosting.

A Nonprofit Creator, Incubator & Assistance Provider

Given that the implied mission of a nonprofit is to serve the greater good, we lend a hand in creating, incubating and assisting nonprofit organizations using all of the tools and skills we offer. Sometimes we create our own self-envisioned nonprofits. At other times we partner with others to realize their own nonprofit vision or the evolution of their existing nonprofit. We work with a variety of nonprofit classifications: educational, political, social and more.

A Project Launch Pad

At times, we create or participate in 'one time' projects. Examples of projects in the development stage are a documentary film that explores why people are drawn to serve others and participation in a ballot health care related initiative.

What We Do:

We create and evolve alternatives that serve the greater good.

This is the heart of what we do. We work with organizations, systems and policies that are inefficient, ineffective or harmful to facilitate their evolution and to create alternative paths forward that will lead to greater opportunity, empowerment, effectiveness and possibility, all while holding the underlying intention of service towards the greater good.

An example of an evolving alternative: Democracy arose in our world as an alternative form of government to authoritarianism and aristocracies. It created an alternative that provided for greater fairness, equality, justice, opportunity and empowerment. It was in service of the greater good and to this day continues its evolutionary journey.

We creatively solve problems.

We use creative, open-minded, realistic, practical, honest approaches to find whole, greater good solutions to problems, obstacles and challenges. We think ‘out-of-the-box’ and partner with organizations to achieve their goals.

We facilitate practical, flexible, achievable strategy and planning.

We have expertise in ‘seeing the forest from the trees’. We work at developing plans and strategies that approach the issues at hand from many angles. This fosters a practical, flexible, achievable way to accomplish the mission with the available resources.

We discover solutions that couple immediate needs with systemic change.

In many situations, the immediate need is obvious. We believe in finding ways to meet the immediate needs while also starting the process of creating systemic change. We believe in the vital importance of preventing the perpetuation of the problem by addressing its root cause.

To use a common metaphor with an important addition, we work to ‘feed the person a fish’, ‘teach the person how to fish’, and ‘create a fishing system built on sustainability, opportunity, and equality’.

We intelligently evolve marketing and messaging.

We are proponents of getting the primary message across quickly, simply and directly while making it easy for the desiring listener to go deeper, learn more, get involved and so on. In this age of increasing competition for the listener’s attention, we believe it is imperative to quickly and effectively communicate two primary things: ‘WHAT WE ARE DOING/WHAT IT IS’ and ‘WHY THE LISTENER SHOULD CARE’. From there, we respect the listener’s preferences, inclinations and available time while we guide the listener through the available options and what is next.

We champion non-alienating, respectful communication and actions.

We think communication and actions that takes an ‘us-against-them’ or a ‘victim-victimizer’ stance is usually not helpful and often leads to making things worse. Rather, we strongly believe in and champion communication and actions that are respectful, cooperative and helpful and that seeks to include as many people as possible while still maintaining a strong message based in mission, facts and intentions. We believe effective communication is rooted in compassion and empathy for all involved, especially for the ‘enemy’. We believe this approach to be invaluable in furthering intentions, ”winning hearts and minds”, achieving goals and creating partnerships.

We craft smart, effective, artistic media: web, video, photo and print.

We help implement useful technologies.

We work with organizations the help them make sense of the myriad of technology options available today. We help them implement technologies that increase efficiency and efficacy; saving time, money and other resources. The use of internet based communication and collaboration tools, open source software, streamlined technological processes and technology training and education are all examples of implementations of useful technologies.

We find resource efficiency and opportunity.

We are efficiency experts, facilitating efficient and effective utilization of systems, staff, volunteers, money and other resources as well as creating opportunities and strategies for greater resource abundance.

We empower through education.

We believe that education is a very important form of empowerment and many, many things in our challenging world would change if individuals were simply educated about the relevant details. Much of our work is around facilitating education regarding relevant details that in turn help make our world a better place.

We facilitate partnerships

Partnerships can be an extremely valuable way of furthering a mission, cause or intention. When we see potential opportunities, we work to facilitate the creation of long and short term partnerships that will be mutually beneficial in serving the common goals of those involved and the greater good. These partnerships also lead to the reduction of duplicated efforts, which in turn saves time, money and other resources, and prevents the ‘reinventing the wheel’.

Our Intentions

To serve the greater good

All the work we do has the underlying intention of being of service and help to others. We define service and help broadly: from creating opportunities for community, to creating systemic political change, to teaching others to communicate more respectfully and much more. We define ”greater good” as improving the health of a situation while doing as little harm as possible whether it be environmentally, psychologically, spiritually, physically, politically and/or financially. Our projects and assistance serve the greater good of ourselves, our families, our friends, our communities and our entire world.

We value and work towards the ideals of fairness, equality, justice, and opportunity for all. We believe that these are the primary building blocks of creating better circumstances for all individuals and communities.

We define compassion as the understanding of another’s suffering and the desire to alleviate that suffering. We strive to bring compassion, open-heartedness, kindness and goodwill to all of the work that we do.
